Saw a couple of good shows in Chelsea today...A lot of spaces were closed for the month of August but I was very glad I didn't miss Le Tableau @ Cheim and Read.  It was great to see this group show curated byJoe Fyfe. The premise was French abstraction and gallery artists who show affinities with it.
Including work by: Milton Resnick, Louise Fishman, Juan Usle, Jean Fautrier, Richard Aldrich, and Joan Mitchell among others.
Also at Paul Kasmin Gallery: David LaChapelle's American Jesus. Striking images w/ roots in the Renaissance.

Studio Visit w/ Tim McFarlane

Field's Edge, 2010

Last week I had a great studio visit and conservation with Tim McFarlane at his studio in Old City Philadelphia.
Unfortunately, I forgot my camera. Tim is working on an exciting, new body of work that is expanding on his high key color abstraction and developing his personal visual language with the introduction of powerful obfuscating forms.
Tim is represented in Philadelphia by the Bridgette Mayer Gallery.  Please visit the gallery's website for more images.  Also, check out Tim's blog here.
