Painting...suffering.....drinking coca-cola...painting some more.

Trip to Vermont

I left home yesterday morning and arrived at the Pond House in Jeffersonville, VT around 5:30.
If your going to the Vermont Studio Center and you have the time, spend at least one night at the Pond House!
They have a beautiful Studio apt above the garage that incl. a kitchen dinning table, cable, and most importantly windos on one wall that open to a great view of the mountains.

So after a good night's sleep I got up around 10 am had breakfast (a frozen pizza in the fridge left by a previous guest), got cleaned up and watched tv and read until 12:30 when I headed to Johnson, VT and the residency.

Did a quick tour of the campus---got my room and studio set up and had a great dinner...
The only downside so far is the steady rain!!! which is supposed to stick around all week. Oh well, as long as the studio doesn't leak I'm fine.

Tomorrow I plan to go to a meditation session then get to work. Chris martin is here to give his lecture and do studio visits on the 5th and 6th and I want to have some work for him to look at!

House in Eureka Springs, AR

Here are a few pictures of the house we're buying in Eureka Springs, AR.
It's a Victorian summer cottage built around the turn of the century.
Hopefully we'll close before the next century rolls around!
We are buying it from my parents who are selling to move back to Memphis.
Robin and I were married in the front yard so we are very sentimentally attached to the place.
It's going to make a great painting/writing retreat for us!

A Power House Director’s Choice Group Exhibition
July 3-August 10, 2009

Everywhere, Nowhere, Somewhere looks at the oddity of humanity with pieces that border on the bizarre, compulsive and the beautiful. Works question labels of race, gender and cultural identity, highlighting the concept of otherness and how it affects our perception of reality. The sense of wandering implied by Everywhere, Nowhere, Somewhere is embodied by installations that lie on the fringes of categories like sculpture and painting, but do not quite find a home within these classifications. Much of the work deals with the negotiation of identity in a world that is complex, mysterious and anything but black and white.The 2009 Power House Director's Choice Artists are: Keith O. Anderson (NYC), Dwayne Butcher (Memphis), Brendan Fernandes (NYC), Marie Irmgard (Denmark), Charles Huntley Nelson (Atlanta), Kambui Olujimi (NYC), Joel Parsons (Memphis), Jonathan and Mary Postal (Memphis), Jackson Dingo Ryan (Eugene, OR) and Tam Tran (Memphis).
